I just changed the AI balance considerably. There is now a lower chance for the AI to “hunt” a player when they spawn nearby. I also added more random land walking AI groups, and they will walk randomly until they find a player to attack.

OK Updated both the new Chernarus Redux map and Desolation Redux mod files. Server back up to date.
LOL. Months between updates, and now we are back to back updates. Maybe they are upping the frequency. Also, I need to check my update scripts so this happens automatically from now now… Will do shortly.

Yep. That’s correct and usually consistent with most Arma AI experiences. Some day if I find time, I may be able to detect if a player steals an AI vehicle and and execute a database save action, so the Desolation mod knows the vehicle exists. I’ll post in here if I add that feature. I am not working on it at this time though. 🙂

1. I can’t do anything about the bats. That is Desolation Redux mod’s issue.
2. Thanks for the feedback on the loot system and AI system! So great to get those systems validated, since they are so complex and I spent a decent amount of time on both.

Yeah. You’ll have to experiment with the crafting thing. This server runs vanilla Desolation Redux, so whatever the dev team has for crafting is what we have for crafting…
There are rumors of a pending updating within the next week or 2. Who knows, we might get more content.

I scaled the AI numbers down a bit, but it may be the case where this needs to be scaled down further. Also, the AI now drop a sleeping pack that contains ALL of the loot from their bodies… Definitely look for sleeping bag rolls on the ground after killing AI.

The loot tables have been pretty heavily modified/customized. You will have to explore to see the updates… I am sure we will all be happy with this update. 🙂

I will be adjusting the loot tables to find a good balance, especially for dealing with AI vs hardcore survival. I do not want this server to be militarized (every can easily max out). The goal is for this server to be a good balance for PVP, PVE and survival.

Note I am still tweaking the counts of AI types. I just adjusted the roaming ground vehicles and walking groups lower. This is hard to do without game play feedback. If anyone plays and feels like it’s too much, please suggest updates here.

Missions will announce on radio and missions will show up on the map as diamond markers.
AI is roaming on land, vehicles and air.

I spent hours and hours adapting the my favorite AI systems to work with Desolation mod. At long last, AI lives again! I will be tweaking it and adding to the system over time, but we now have roaming AI in the form of on foot, vehicles and air, plus AI missions system.
